Sorry but I couldn't resist this :-) "... I believe ARE leafhoppers....they look so much like the spittlebugs in your other pictures, but there are some key differences. Look at the hind legs of these guys...they're tucked up under the wings, but you can see many robust hairs up and down the length of the legs....a telltale feature for Cicadellidae. yeah bungee is safer than testing unrated helmets all the way :)
