Description:

•They have huge eyespots, which resemble owl's eyes. •Their main predators are small lizards. •They prefentially fly in dusk. This is possibly the reason of the name Caligo (darkness).

Habitat:

Rainforests, secondary forests -I saw this butterfly in Itaipava (RJ, Brazil)
