Rhinotia hemistictus
This 20mm long weevil was on exposed core of a well dead acacia tree. Unusual features include the pin shaped tail, double lines of cream coloured spots down its back and bright cream coloured under parts. It was 'drilling' a hole into very hard, dead wood.
Long dead acacia trunk in very open public parkland.

Thanks to RachaelB for the ID . Very sparse information exists on this one.

Fabulous find Rachael. Exactly it... surprising how little has been written about them. Thanks heaps for that.
I'm pretty sure I've seen that species on the net when I was searching for one of my unknown weevils - I'll see if I can find it again.
