Great Egret

Ardea alba

Description:

About 4 feet tall, all over white with yellow beak and black legs and feet, this bird always strikes me as so understated when it is landed. It is only in flight that the majesty of the bird shines, with gorgeous wings and magnificent in flight posture. My 7000th spotting is a bird so often seen in ditches and by ponds all over Florida searching for small fish and amphibians to eat

Habitat:

Pond at soccer field
