Striped Bumble Bee Shrimp

Gnathophyllum americanum

Description:

Gnathophyllum americanum, commonly known as the "striped bumblebee shrimp," is a species of shrimp that is common throughout tropical lagoons, bays, and reefs. Similar in coloration to a brightly coloured bumblebee, with blue highlights, the striped bumblebee shrimp can grow up to 1 inch (25 mm) in length.

Habitat:

Although they are common, they can be very hard to find as they hides under coral rubbles, rocks and among hard corals. Also, when found, they can be difficult to take pictures of as they can be very skittish and try to hide. They tend to be nocturnal and doesn't like lights on them.
