Zebra Swallowtail Butterfly

Eurytides marcellus

Description:

This butterfly was on our back porch screen, enjoying the aftermoon sun. It stayed there for a while. When I looked it up the wingspan averages between 2½"- 4", this one was close to 3" at least. We have a couple of butterfly bushes in our backyard and had several geraniums around our pool area last year. We have woods, blackberry brambles and a creek runs through the back of our yard.

Habitat:

Swampy areas, fields and brushy areas. I found this info at www.gardenswithwings.com

Nice first spotting on Noah - welcome to the Project! It sounds like you have a nice habitat for spottings and we look forward to seeing what else you have spotted.
