Blanding's turtle

Emys blandingii

Smooth black carapace w/ yellow speckles, yellow plastron w/ black splotches, and yellow on the underside of neck. Considered an Endangered Species in most of its range, however is not uncommon in Michigan's Lower Peninsula, and is listed as a Species of Special Concern. Found in a Savanna clearing work site, and came close to running it over with the tractor. Luckily I was able to remove it from the work site.

Oak Savanna Restoration Site, not too far from a creek.
