Wrentit

Chamaea fasciata

Description:

Can be mistaken for a California Towhee except for it's size and the unmistakeable light colored eyes. Small brown bird with a long tail, reddish chest and belly, short bill and pale line over the eye.
Mostly a shy bird.

Habitat:

Chapparral, bushes on slopes or hillsides

Notes:

I heard a racket in a bush and when I approached it to see what it was, it turned out to be a pair of Wrentits.
