Some microbes are relatively motionless but most need to be slowed down. I use methyl cellulose. It doesn't harm them, just makes the water thicker so they can't move around as much. Use enough and it brings them to a total standstill.

Glad you like them. I use a Leica CME microscope and a Motic 2500 digital camera designed specifically for use with a microscope.
