Hamadryas feronia is reported from Ecuador and I think it is the Variable Cracker.
It does, "Range: Argentina and Brazil north through tropical America to Mexico. Strays to the lower Rio Grande Valley of South Texas." (BAMONA) and the coloration is perfect for H. feronia.
Thanks for the suggestion Fyn. I'm not sure if the range of Hamadryas feronia includes Ecuador though.
