Hamadryas feronia is reported from Ecuador and I think it is the Variable Cracker.

It does, "Range: Argentina and Brazil north through tropical America to Mexico. Strays to the lower Rio Grande Valley of South Texas." (BAMONA) and the coloration is perfect for H. feronia.
