This nymph was about 1" long, dark gray, nearly black on the back. The front legs were light brown as were the hind legs at the hips
This nymph was found in the weeds behind a building in the Amazon rainforest of SE Ecuador.
Not the normal run of the mill crickets we see here. The reason for that is that it's not a cricket as was gently pointed out to me :-) I've since adjusted the common name. It appears to be a grasshopper nymph. I'll have to pay attention to see if they are more common than I've noticed.

My pleasure. This is fun. Besides, most of my face is covered with a beard so not many will notice how red it is.
No worries! This site is here for sharing and learning. Thank you for sharing all of your lovely finds.
Boy is my face red. Of course its not a cricket. Thanks for pointing out what should have been obvious. I don't have senior moments, I have senior days :-) Thanks again.
This appears to be a grasshopper nymph. Crickets generally have long, thread-like antennae and slightly different body conformation. You can see the small wing buds next to where the hind legs meet the thorax, which help to identify it as a likely nymph. I am unfamiliar with Ecuadorian species, so I can't do much better than that at this time.
