Spotting

Description:

Found crawling down road by curb, 4-5cm long, relatively useless on flat land. Thick & slimy. Perhaps an overwintered beetle grub?

Habitat:

Blacksburg, Virginia. Known for mountainous terrain with poor soils.

Notes:

Did not look too likely to survive on its own, being a large protein snack with minimal mobility.
