It could have been, it is possible to select that box even though it has a scientific name. It's not a problem and thanks for the complement.

Hi Karen and thanks for your suggestion, however, had you checked you would realise that my ID is correct as Araneus diadematus is commonly known as Garden Spider in the UK but as Cross Spider in USA. <BR> You will find that nearly all UK reference books for all species of organisms have English Common names which often differ from American Common names, and also they rarely use the words European or Common, but they often put the word American in front of things which your country does not always do.
Project Noah policy is to use the scientific name as the prime identifier while the common name is that used in the country of the sighting and may be in any language.
