Cuban zephyr lily, pink rain lily

Zephyranthes rosea

Description:

This is a species of rain lily native to the Caribbean. They are widely cultivated as ornamentals and have become naturalized in tropical regions worldwide. Like all rain lilies, they are known for blooming only after heavy rains. It's position seemed to imply that it was growing wild.

Habitat:

This flower was growing in the middle of a grassy lot in an under-developed part of Biak town. This is in the equatorial tropics.
