Ant-mimic Spider

Description:

An active Jumping Spider species going from leaf to leaf on this fern looking for some meal to hunt. This group of spiders contains a vast number of species which all of them mimic different species of ants better than many other spiders. As you can see, the back of the head elongated to mimic ant thorax and front legs raised up to mimic antennae. About 7mm which is the average size of Bornean jumping spiders. Emertonius genus, formerly known as Myrmarachne.

Habitat:

On plants in the rainforest of Tawau Hills Park, Sabah, Malaysia.

Notes:

This is my first photograph of an ant mimicry jumping spider. As for the first one that I have spotted was 2 years ago. I had already finished uploading all my Maliau Basin spottings and currently I am uploading spottings from Tawau Hill Park 3 years ago. >>>Map accuracy : 1km diameter.
