Description:

Fairly large insect. Males have thick hind femora ("thighs"), and kinked hind tibiae ("shins"). Usually found in groups on thistles or other low-growing weeds.

Habitat:

Found this one in a mixed coniferous and deciduous woodland, in a riparian corridor.

Notes:

The genus has been revised several times and different species synonymized. Much work remains to be done to clarify this genus.
