Galapagos mockingbirds

Mimus parvulus

Description:

The Galápagos Mockingbird is a species of bird in the Mimidae family. It is endemic to the Galápagos Islands, Ecuador. On the geologically new Galápagos Islands Darwin looked for evidence attaching wildlife to an older "centre of creation", and found mockingbirds allied to those in Chile but differing from island to island.

Habitat:

Genovesa island, Galapagos

Notes:

This pair of mockingbirds were squabbling over a discarded apple.

Thank you Ava & Yuko! I could kick myself for not getting a video of them - they were so entertaining to watch I just got immersed in the show!

This series is so artistic with the one element in color and the rest seemingly black and white. Really lovely.
