Stink bug

Family Pentatomidae

Description:

This stink bug had just molded (photo #4 shows the exuvia). Its scutellum - the roughly triangular shaped part in its back - has not its usual form. Can anyone tell me if it is a case of malformation, or if it will become "normal" with time? An update on this one: I found it again today (two days after the first spotting) and it is still the same. So, turns out that it is a malformation, after all.

Argy, I noticed that stink bugs tend to stay in the same bush or tree, unless they are forced to leave. Even when I come close to them, they prefer to hide under a leaf than fly. And this one moved with difficulty, so it wasn't a big deal to find it again. Amazing was the fact that it was still alive, even being so crippled...

Good info Sergio. I'm amazed you found the same bug 2 days later.... I just blink and they disappear.
