American Pelican

Pelecanus erythrorhynchos

Description:

I was amazed when I looked up and spotted these very large white birds high up in the sky. They appeared to not flap their wings and were flying in formation before breaking up, circling then returning to their original formation and direction. Unfortunately I had my macro lens on so these aren't so great.

Habitat:

Above the backyard, about 25 miles from the ocean.
