Habitat:

Coastal hammocks. Moist, well-drained sandy or limestone soils, with humusy top layer of coastal thickets in the Florida Keys and along the east coast of Florida, also Bahamas, Cuba, Mexico and Central America.

Notes:

At first glace very similar to the poisonous Rosary Pea, but this is a small shrub rather than a vine and the seeds are all black but covered with a reddish flesh (Rosary Pea seeds are themselves red with a black tip). also this plant's seed pods are much curlier.
