A big skimmer with dark wing bases. Males have white patches on all wings. Brown abdomen turns pruinose with maturity.
Lakes, ponds, and pools in slow streams of all kinds with mud bottoms and usually much vegetation in open and wooded habitats.
I spotted this male at the neighbor's pond. In the second image he's perching with a male Blue Dasher.
