It spends most of its time around its host plant and tends to perch often, when disturbed it circles the area and return to its original perch.
It is widespread almost all over the island least common at the highest elevations.
The larvae feed on nettles such as; Tragia cannabina, T. involucrata and the Castor-oil plant (Ricinus communis).
