Bearded Weevil

Rhinostomus barbirostris

Description:

Males have hairs gilded in the distal part of the rostrum. Called are usually weevils of brush and are associated with monocot as las palmas plants although they are not important pest of them. This family has approximately 103 species in Panama distributed preferably in damp forest tropical lowlands. They are often attracted by the lights. There is another species of this genus registered for Panama and is very similar, Rhinostomus thompsoni, but distinguishes itself, the male has no hairs on the rostrum.

Habitat:

The weevils are found in tree trunks. In Habitats of Tropical climate and temperate.

Notes:

I found this funny and curious Weevil in the work of my mother.
