Clear Cleaner Shrimp

Urocaridella antonbruunii

Description:

It was very special to observe a Cleaner shrimp "picking the teeth" of this beautiful moray eel. When the moray eel deemed that I was too close, it would back up into its hole. The cleaner shrimp would hover at the entrance and the moray eel would move back out to let the shrimp continue cleaning. I have wanted to observe this behaviour for a number of years and my wish was finally granted. Simply amazing!

Habitat:

Coral Reef. Spotted at Koala

Your spotting has been nominated for the Spotting of the Week. The winner will be chosen by the Project Noah Rangers based on a combination of factors including: uniqueness of the shot, status of the organism (for example, rare or endangered), quality of the information provided in the habitat and description sections. There is a subjective element, of course; the spotting with the highest number of Ranger votes is chosen. Congratulations on being nominated!
