Double-striped Bluet (male)

Enallagma basidens

Description:

Double black stripes on the "shoulder" of the thorax make this species instantly recognizable.

Habitat:

Spied this one in an open field adjacent to a small artificial pond.

Notes:

Most male bluets look all too much alike, requiring close-up images of their claspers at the tip of the abdomen to identify them with any degree of accuracy.
