The Black Vulture (Coragyps atratus) also known as the American Black Vulture, is a bird in the New World vulture family whose range extends from the southeastern United States to Central Chile and Uruguay in South America. Told from the turkey vulture(at a distance) by the large flocks it often congregates in, and the flapping of its wings while soaring. The Black Vulture has a black head and thinner beak while the turkey vulture has a red red and thicker beak and soars with a characteristic V wing shape and tipsy soaring pattern
