Uropetala carovei
Huge yellow striped dragonfly
Hi Harry, great spotting! Since this dragonfly has two common names - NZ Bush Giant Dragonfly or Kapokapowai - you could choose to write them both in the common name field, or maybe choose one and then make a note of the other one in the notes section. (So, for example, it is interesting to note that Kapokopowai is the name of this dragonfly in the Maori language.) 'Uropetala carovei' is the scientific name, so that's would you should put in the scientific name field.
I am sorry dear harryBrian, but the Golden-ringed Dragonfly is a British species . The dragonfly in your pics, is a Kapokapowai (uropetala karovei) the New Zealand bush giant dragonfly.
