Green Lacewing larvae

Chrysopidae sp.

Description:

This odd looking bug was tiny, less than 1 cm, and looked like it was carrying all manner of rubbish on it's back. In photo 2, it is navigating through the hairs on my arm, which are very large compared to it, and in photo 6, it is on the back of my hand. Haven't got a good macro camera so the photos are not so clear!

Those are really small Pam. Your pics are great. These creatures put anything at hand on their backs. We've seen dirt, rocks, shell, sticks, leaves, even once another live creature still kicking ! :-)

It is a lacewing larva, Pamsay. They have a spiked "tail" where they attach the remains of their preys and other debris.
