Parides cf. panares lycimenes
Seems close to these two species (thank-you bayucca for the links): http://www.butterfliesofamerica.com/L/t/... http://www.butterfliesofamerica.com/L/t/...
Town garden.
This pretty butterfly would not hold still for a picture.
Good compromise and I would add some info about the other candidate, maybe with the corresponding links in the description section.
Thank-you Dominik! I have been looking at the Garwood-Lehman book and I am almost cross-eyed now. Since you narrowed it to two, that has helped, and I lean toward P. panares lycimenes since most photos seem to show the upper-surface white spots as in-line with each other, while most of the photos of P. i. iphidamas show the upper-surface white spots as somewhat oblique to each other. I have some other images of this fast-moving butterfly, but I don't think they would help us!
That's a hard one! In my eyes it is either Parides panares lycimenes or Parides iphidamas iphidamas, definitely a female.

Both are common, both are very variable considering the white spots and markings.
What do you think?
