Bark Anole

Anolis distichus

Description:

The bark anole, Anolis distichus, is a species of anole found in many Caribbean islands and Florida (as a long-introduced species). It spends most its time on tree trunks. Often it is a brownish color with a yellow dewlap. Many subspecies exist.

Habitat:

They spend their time clinging to trunks and large branches of trees, and this picture shows that they've evolved a good camouflage for this lifestyle.

Notes:

Found in zoo Miami on palm tree across from tapir exhibit
