Caltha palustris has 5 petals - Oneothera has a characteristic 4 petals as in your spotting. Because of the upright nature of the plant in photo 2 and the toothed nature of the leaves, I have chosen O. biennis. Most Oenothera have a crossed stigma.

Thanks for the species ID suggestion, AliHp. I'm not sure your ID is correct. All Google images for the species you suggested have five flower petals; my flower has four.
