Florida Box Turtle (hatchling)

Terrapene carolina bauri

Description:

This adorable baby turtle was found up-side-down in my birdbath...after a few minutes in a box his lethargic little body came back to action and he was released in the garden. I'm hoping it is an offspring of the box turtle that has been living around my yard for years.

Habitat:

In my yard: Siesta Key FL

Notes:

I have to think a bird left him there...maybe a Grackle.

Wow..thank you for the SOTD!..it's especially meaningful because it's an organism from my own yard.
I'm pretty sure a grackle left the turtle in the bird bath as one flew away just before the baby was found. By the way it was not only up-side-down, but under water.
