Cattail Caterpillar

Simyra insularis

Description:

Body predominantly pale yellow, mottled heavily with black. Pale yellow lateral stripe along the body. Tufts of seta arise from orange knobs encircling each abdominal and thoracic segment.

Habitat:

Marshy area with lots of cattail. Spotted along Handsome Hollow trail

Notes:

The adult of this caterpillar is known as Henry's Marsh Moth.
