Eurasian Three-toed Woodpecker

Picoides tridactylus

Description:

Medium size (20 cm) woodpecker in search for insects in a dead spruce.

Habitat:

Mixed forest

Notes:

I noticed this creature when I was on my usual trip around the forest in my neighborhood, when I found it I was able to get as close as 3 meter but unfortunately I scared it off before I was able to get some better pictures.

Thanks Stian! I'm hoping to spot it once again soon, I've never seen this one before I believe. And such fun to get so close, it was preoccupied with searching for food so it didn't notice me at first. But in my effort to get even closer I tripped and scared it off, at least I got some pictures good enough to identify the species which i think is correct.

Thank you Maria! I know there must be something with my camera that makes it difficult to take clear pictures, I just started to use my camera so i have a lot to learn before I'm able to take crystal clear pictures.
