Platismatia tuckermanii
Small wonders of winter. Crumpled Rag is a foliose pale gray to greenish-gray crumpled lobes with shiny red-brown disks on lobe margins. The Crumpled Rag Lichen gows on bark and wood of conifers. Tuckermanii is in reference to Edward Tuckerman, the pre-eminent lichenologist of the mid-1800s. This lichen is adapted to take advantage of rainwater4 running down the branches of its conifer host.
The lichen with the small round disk is most likely a Star Rosette LIchen. Reference: Lichens of the North Woods, by Joe Walewski
