Santa Catalina Island Rattlesnake

Crotalus catalinensis

Description:

Resembles a more slender western diamondback, lacks a rattle.

Habitat:

An island in the Gulf of California off Baja, Mexico

Notes:

It climbs trees and hunts birds. Because a rattle would warn them, and the birds would fly away, they don't have one.
