Peacock Fly

Callopistromyia annulipes

Description:

Small, 4-5mm fly with black and white speckled body and wings. The wings lay flat most of the time. But the wings are sometime perpendicular to the body.

Habitat:

prairie

Notes:

Several of these flies were on the metal railing of a bridge.
