Cricket

Gryllidae

Description:

25mm, black with pale legs and leopard patterns on them. Short wings. This is a female as the ovipositor is visible

Habitat:

in a playground hiding in the cracks among the planks that make the wall around the sand pit

Notes:

This is a female of the same species as the earlier male found in my apartment. It is one of two species found and chirrups all night. The last picture is the normal one I get because the camera has a slow focus speed. The backside of a disappearing insect! :-) There are images of this cricket on the internet but none of the photographers seem to know what species it is. If I call it a Japanese Burrowing Cricket as I would like to it will appear as a web reference that verifies the cricket in Australia and I do not have the experience to be the person who does that so I mention it here and in tags only.
