Beautiful old Lion - waterhole at dry Aob river bed in Kgalagadi . Black mane lions look so much more powerful and handsome than their golden mane counterparts.

That is a special experience to have in the wild!
I followed him for about 3km...was noon, hot as Kalahari desert can be in mid summer...hi just walk and walk to waterhole...old King was having last days...
The Kgalagadi lions are also said to be bigger than other lions. What a lovely relaxed series and amazing to see this old lion going about his daily life.
