American Kestral

Falco sparverius

Description:

This colorful male Kestral caught my eye up in a bare tree. Notice some type of mouse in it's claws. Right in front of me it skinned it and swallowed it in a short time. Then it cleaned it's beak by rubbing it against the branch.

Habitat:

These I spot along farm roads in trees or power lines. Can be found in rural and urban areas.

Notes:

This one I spotted along a channel from a lake to the bay, next to an active College.
