Pamela - I'm pretty good about getting the leaves but this little guy didn't have any visible! Just went out to look again and they've barely formed.

Getting pics of a plants leaves helps tremendously when trying to get a good id.

Definitely a Viola, likely V. sororia, the other petal is there just obscured from view, you can just make out one edge of it folding down.

That's a little wild violet - there should be a petal down front between the bottom 2 visible in this pic that may be damaged or eaten :)
