Purple-winged Mantid

Tenodera australasiae

Description:

A mantis about 120mm long with purplish wings edged with green. The mantis had a narrow and dorso-ventrally flattened thorax and a narrow, small head. Eyes were dark. The fore-legs had short spines but were narrow and not thickened as in most other mantids.

Habitat:

scrub land and tall grass

Notes:
