It is a small butterfly with contrasting upper and lower sides. Underside is white to dark yellowish brown. Forewing has irregular dark basal markings with a curved white discal line. The apical two-fifths are a rich dark brown color. The hind wing has a silvery margin with many irregular black lines and spots within. Upper side is dark brown and has a white-spot end cell. It has narrow white spots forming a short band on the forewing. It has three tails, being three different sizes in length. It shows a slight dimorphism, dry season butterfly being larger and more whitish of the two.
It is found in lower elevations up to 2500 feet but mostly found at lower elevations. This butterfly is found in jungle areas of moderate to heavy rainfall, in heavy forest and scrub but prefer to keep to undergrowth and can be seen along open areas such as forest paths and in clearings.
The butterfly has a weak flight and keeps low while landing frequently on bushes to bask in the sun. The larvae feed onbuds of Ixora coccinea belonging to family Rubiaceae and shoots and flowers of Hopea spp belonging to family Dipterocarpaceae.
