Description:

Most likely a huntsman of some variety. This one was very large, about 5-7 inches in diameter, and very fast.

Habitat:

Arid scrub.

It is not a Holconia. It is Isopedella castanea, this is the first record and live image of them! Very cool find. However if it really is 5-7 inches in leg span that would make it significantly larger than all other Isopedella species

I am thinking it is genus Holconia, most likely species: Holconia neglecta. Thoughts?

Thanks Larry! Yes, these huntsman are exceptionally large, I have only found them at this size directly along the river banks. This one was large enough to wrap its legs around the sides of a canoe paddle!

5 - 7". Wow that is enormous. It is much bigger than the tarantulas we have here in Costa Rica! Great spotting. Welcome to Project Noah!
