Thanks y'all! Patty, I indeed agree this should be a rail, and I suspect the same as you do, that it's a young.

Lovely spotting remco! I couldn´t find one just like it in the uruguayan guides I checked... I am tending to think it is a young gallineta - either a pardirallus sangunolentus (gallineta común) or aramides ypecaha (gallineta grande) - which will still change its coloration...Greetings! =)
