Rainbow Lorikeet

Trichoglossus moluccanus

Description:

Widespread, common parrot of Australia. They happily live near man, coming to feeders, flowers and fruit trees in cities and suburbs.

Habitat:

Cleland Wildlife park, flying free and outside the cafe

Notes:

I pretty much abandoned all pretense of eating when they showed up, fairly close and in good lighting for photography.

The most pugnacious species I know of if they see you with food. They will take on creatures double their size.
