Pseudacris crucifer
Spring Peeper frogs are very small between 3/4 to 1.5 inches long, tan or brown in color, with a darker X marking on its back. The Spring Peeper I observed was 1 inches long. They have large toe pads and are good climbers.
Spotted at Tamarac NWR near Pine Lake. Spring Peepers live part of their lives in water and part on land. Marshes, ponds, or swamp areas are required to support the eggs and tadpoles. Fishless temporary wetland near a forest are ideal. They hibernate under logs or behind loose bark on trees.
