This one is about 40mm across the legs. Differs from other similar huntsmen photographed in the area by the textured pattern on the abdomen. Smaller mature female. No badge on the abdomen where it meets the carapace
Nocturnal, under bark and rocks and in buildings
There has been conjecture that some of the Isopeda Vast we are photographing are other species and there are two or three identified so far. (Isopeda montana in the south Victorian mountains for instance) According to "Revision of the Genus Isopeda Koch (Heteropodidae : Araneae) in Australia" I. vasta is not known in the area. David Hirst identifies Isopeda vasta and I. montan groups of species and this appears to be one such
