White wagtail

Motacilla alba

Description:

A bird from the family Motacillidae, this wagtail reaches some 20 cm in length. It shows white belly, flanks and undertail. The mantle is grey, and it shows a broad black breast band. Other distinctive signs are white face with black crown, and, like all wagtails, long tail.

Habitat:

It is a common Palearctic migrant from October to March, and it was seen in open semi-desert area with some acacia trees. It was also very close to water points, as the bird was observed in an "improvised" urban area - a refugee camp close to border with Mali.
