He had a long brown striped abdomen with long legs and large eyes.

Habitat:

Urban back yard. We found him just hanging out on our shed.

Looks like Asilidae (Robber fly). In this case 'urban back yard' would be good for habitat. Always just describe the immediate area for habitat. Cool.
